Star striker Stewart Roach aims to dash Lowestoft Town's hopes of a Portman Road double.

Roach helped the Blues to Suffolk Premier Cup victory last season, but is now in the Leiston side who face them in the climax to this season's competition on Friday (7pm) at Ipswich Town's ground.

It's the first of two of two finals in six days for Lowestoft, who, having clinched the Ridgeons League Premier Division crown, take on AFC Sudbury for the Ridgeons League Cup on Wenesday, May 10 (7.45pm) at Diss Town's ground.

“It is going to be tough and I know we are the underdogs, but we have beaten them before this season,” said Roach.

“It is exciting playing Lowestoft, who are a good side, but we deserve to be in the final for all the hard work we have put in this season.”

Leiston beat Lowestoft 4-2 earlier in the campaign, but the Trawlermen subsequently took their revenge in no uncertain terms, winning the Crown Meadow return 5-1, with Russell Stock netting a hat-trick.

“I got two goals for Lowestoft last year and it will be nice to be at Portman Road again with a different team,” added Roach, who was considered by Trinidad & Tobago for this summer's World Cup finals, but wasn't named in the final squad announced recently.

“The squad for Germany has been named and I've been told they will keep me in mind for the future,” he said.

“The ball is in my court to keep scoring goals and impress them.”
