Two goals from sharp-shooter Mitch Forbes helped Great Yarmouth Town to derby honours of their own after a 2-1 Premier Division win at Ipswich Wanderers.

But there was more misery for Fakenham Town, who lost for the fourth league game in a row.

Yarmouth moved up to eighth after victory in Suffolk, although they had to come from behind after conceding after just eight minutes.

With the strong wind at their backs in the second half, Yarmouth levelled in the 76th minute when the influential Bodie Carter combined brilliantly with Chris Hall, whose pass found Forbes who galloped away and finished well.

The final minutes of the game saw chances for both sides, but as the clock ticked past the 90-minute mark, more good play by Carter and Jamie George found Forbes in an identical position and, despite the valiant attempt of the home ‘keeper, he managed to squeeze his effort into the net for a last minute winner.

Fakenham Town’s fortunes continued on a downward spiral when they were thumped 5-1 at home by leaders Mildenhall Town. Kyle Plumb put the Ghosts ahead, but Mildenhall were 2-1 up at the interval and made the most of their opportunities to run out clear winners.

Diss Town went top of the First Division after a 2-1 home win over third-placed Braintree Town Reserves.

Both teams knew a win would put them top of the league and it was the visitors who broke the deadlock just before half-time, following up after George MacRae had saved a penalty awarded for handball.

Within minutes of the restart the Tangerines were level, when a Sam Wenham cross from the left found Adam Burroughs free in the box and he made no mistake with a precise header.

The winner came 15 minutes from time when Shaun Hunsdon curled a beauty from 18 yards into the back of the net.

Bottom of the table Dereham Town Reserves went down 2-1 at home to Debenham LC – their fifth straight defeat to start the new season – while Downham Town were 3-2 winners at newcomers Holland FC.
