Thurlow Nunn League: King strike leads Gorleston to win at Thetford
Thetford Town's winning start to the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division season was brought to an end by Gorleston.
The Greens travelled to Mundford Road and came away with a 1-0 win, in front of a crowd of 127, thanks to a goal from substitute Ashley King in the 65th minute.
Robbie Priddle hit the bar twice for Thetford in the first half but it was the visitors who took the points, with Ricci Butler’s team extending their unbeaten start to their league campaign.
Diss won their second game on the bounce in the First Division, beating King’s Lynn Town Reserves at Brewers Green Lane.
The Linnets won 8-2 at home against Needham Market Reserves on Saturday but found themselves 1-0 down early last night after Shaun Hunsdon teed up Sam Bryant for the opening goal.
The visitors equalised before the break but Adam Burroughs restored the lead for the Tangerines early in the second half, heading in at the far post from a corner.
The home side could even afford to miss a penalty soon after, with Burroughs seeing his effort saved.
Tonight’s action sees Fakenham host Ely City in the Premier Division, with Swaffham Town travelling to Kirkley and Pakefield.
In the First Division, King’s Lynn Reserves return to action on Friday night, at Wisbech St Mary (7.45pm kick-off).
