Toftwood take full advantage

The division one leaders Redgrave Rangers dropped two valuable points in being held to a 3-3 draw on their visit to Hingham Athletic.

The division one leaders Redgrave Rangers dropped two valuable points in being held to a 3-3 draw on their visit to Hingham Athletic. Second-placed Toftwood United took full advantage with an only goal win at Gressenhall to close the gap to four points with two games in hand. Saham Toney in third place effectively reduced the title race to three by beating fourth-placed Yaxham 2-0. Rockland United relieved their relegation worries with an only goal win at Dereham Posties and North Elmham had a comfortable 3-1 win at East Harling Reserves

In division two, Shipdham retained third spot by winning 4-2 at Wymondham Town A and Tacolneston stay fourth following their 2-1 win over bottom team Saham Toney Reserves Thetford Athletic are up to fifth after beating Morley Village Reserves 4-1 and the other match between North Elmham Reserves and Attleborough Town A ended in a 3-3 draw.

Bunwell increased their lead at the top of division three to a massive 15 points as a result of their 3-1 win at Foulsham Reserves. Cockers in second place were beaten 3-1 at home by Wendling and, as a result, Watton United A move above them following their 4-4 home draw with fourth-placed Brandon Town A. Hingham Athletic Reserves stay fifth after their 4-1 win at Bawdeswell and sixth-placed Swanton Morley were held to a 1-1 draw at Toftwood United Reserves. Rockland United Reserves picked up three valuable points as a result of their 3-2 win at Gressenhall Reserves and West End beat bottom team Shipdham Reserves 4-0.

The division four leaders Thetford Rovers Reserves got back to winning ways with a 5-2 win at Splitz United and second-placed Bradenham Wanderers Reserves ran up the biggest score of the day with an 11-0 home win over Garboldisham. Shropham United continued their recent good run with a 5-1 win at Thurton and Ashby and stay in fifth place. At the other end of the table, bottom team Bunwell Reserves gained another win with a very good 6-3 result against fourth-placed Sporle.

There was another full programme in the Fen Regis Invitation Shield. In Group A Swaffham Town A and Dereham Town A drew 2-2 which means the latter must now beat Shropham United to reach the last four. In Group B, Great Cressingham beat Necton Reserves 3-1 to qualify for the semi-finals and in Group C, Yaxham Reserves beat Bridgham United by the odd goal of three to reach the last four. In Group D, Beetley won 4-1 at Hindolveston and pip Thurton and Ashby on goal difference to reach the semi-finals.
