Lowestoft Town have been given a tricky-looking trip to Essex in the FA Vase quarter-final draw.

Lowestoft Town have been given a tricky-looking trip to Essex in the FA Vase quarter-final draw.

The Trawler Boys will face Concord Rangers at Thames Road, Canvey Island on Saturday, March 1, for what will be one of the most important matches in the club's history.

Concord, who take their name from a local beach, currently sit fourth in the Essex Senior League Premier Division - the same level of non-league football as the Ridgeon's Premier Division - and their 2-0 fifth round victory over Camberley Town at the weekend took Rangers to the quarter finals of the competition for the first time in their history.

Town will face a potent strike threat from Rangers, with Michael Begg having scored 33 goals in 39 games, and former Tottenham Hotspur starlet Danny Hearle who has 36 goals in 42 appearances. The team have crashed in 58 league goals in only 17 matches.

Lowestoft booked their place in the last eight of the vase for the first time in their history with a hard-earned 2-1 win over Dunston Federation at Crown Meadow on Saturday, thanks to goals from Jamie Godbold and Darren Cockrill.

Defending champions Truro were knocked out of the vase after losing 3-0 at home to Whitley Bay on Saturday, and Town chairman Geoff Price has admitted he feels this could be the Trawler Boys' year.
