Wensum Albion 7, Loddon 'A' 3

Albion hosted Loddon in the first meeting of the two sides this season. The game got off to a great start for Albion when Seaman headed home unchallenged from a Jenner cross.

Albion doubled their lead on 17 minutes when a Loddon defender handballed in the area, Leeper converting the resultant spot kick. The height advantage of the Loddon players did cause Albion some problems but the defence stayed tight as a unit with keeper Cooper yet again commanding his area.

It was 3-0 before the break when a 50-yard Littleboy pass found Seaman who beat the reluctant keeper to the ball and fired his second of the game.

Seven minutes into the second half Albion carried on as they left off and scored a fourth, Mark Leeper sending a 45-yard free-kick sailing over the Loddon keeper and into the net.

A minute later Martin got on the scoresheet drilling the ball home from inside the area after a Seaman pass.

The game looked dead and buried on the hour mark after a looping cross from Jenner nestled in the bottom corner of the net, Philo and Jarrett then going close with decent efforts.

Loddon refused to give in and started playing their best football of the game, a passing move found their centre midfielder who put an unstoppable volley past the Albion goalkeeper.

Loddon were awarded a penalty ten minutes later, Martin adjudged to have taken part in some shirt pulling. The penalty was converted, Albion players looking to see the game out hoping to avoid an unlikely comeback.

A seventh goal settled the nerves with only tem minutes left, a Jenner cross met by the head of Martin.

There was still time for Loddon to grab their third after a good counter attack. Credit to both teams for an entertaining and open game.
