WYMONDHAM LADIES came up against a clinical Aylsham on the opening day of the season.
Wymondham played some good one-touch football throughout, especially in the second half. Aylsham scored three first-half goals, leaving Wymondham in a difficult position for the start of the second half. Wymondham didn't deserve to be three down, but they also didn't really deserve to be in front.
The second half showed Wymondham had confidence and they wanted to win the game. Within 20 seconds Wymondham had a corner, but it came to nothing.
When Aylsham managed to mount an attack, they looked determined, and their strikers were on top form. The passion, commitment and energy was there for all to see, and it was repaid when Helen scored a wonder goal from the left wing, she cut inside and launched the ball into the far right-hand corner.
Aylsham won the game 5-1, but what Wymondham showed on the pitch was the passion, which will undoubtedly stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.
There were many players who could have won player of the match, but it was Georgina Knight who picked it up, after a good shift down the right midfield, with her pace scaring the defence every time she was put through.
The next game is away to Bungay on Sunday, 2.
