Lowestoft Town's fastest ever goal secured their best start to a league campaign since 1968 with a 6-1 hammering of Premier Division bottom side Haverhill Rovers at Hamlet Croft.

Despite the home side kicking off, it took striker Ali McKenna just nine seconds to open the scoring before Russell Stock added another and Paul Jenkin's penalty made it 2-1 going into the interval.

Four minutes into the second half, leading scorer Darren Cockrill put away his eighth goal of the season from the spot and 60 seconds later, Bradley Hough's exquisite chip made it four.

Substitute Reece Hunn and Richard Woodrow completed the scoring to extend Town's lead at the top to nine points.

Dereham Town's recent good form came to an end at Histon Reserves, as they lost

4-2. Nathaniel Knight-Percival's third minute opener and Andrew Tidswell's header preceded new Magpies signing Chris Bacon being felled in the box and Danny Beaumont reducing the first half arrears.

Knight-Percival's second and a tap in from Jamie Barker put the game out of sight, before Paul Atkins drilled home a consolation.

Kirkley and Pakefield's early season frustrations continued as they tossed away a two-goal lead at home to Ely City. In a game that saw eight bookings and the visitors' manager Dennis Lighting sent off in the second half, Jamie Stokeld and Chris Henderson put Kirkley in control, but Steven Bell pulled one back on 57 minutes and, after eight minutes of injury time, Chadwick headed in level.

A Scott Cubberley hat-trick secured Wisbech Town's third-straight league victory with a 3-1 win at Woodbridge Town, but Norwich United were made to pay for missing a golden opportunity after just two minutes as they went down 3-1 at Needham Market.

Keith Hetherington beat Needham 'keeper Liam Jones to the ball but hit the post with the goal at his mercy. Seven minutes later, a Danny Smy double had United on the ropes and a swift break saw Paul Berry make it three.

Keith Hetherington gave Norwich a faint glimmer of hope on half-time but Needham saw the game out comfortably to inflict United's sixth defeat of the campaign.

King's Lynn Reserves won a seven-goal thriller against Tiptree United at The Walks. Despite leading 2-1 at half-time, it took Rory Harper's last gasp strike to seal the points for Lynn in dramatic style.

In Division One, Great Yarmouth Town maintained their unbeaten start to the season thanks to a 2-1 home win over Thetford Town. Kamren Senior gave the visitors a first half lead after good work by Lee Brewer, but Yarmouth equalised early in the second period thanks to Adam Sullivan's angled shot and with Thetford's Ross Bilham sent off for his second yellow late on, Liam Bartley took full advantage with five minutes remaining.

The Bloaters are now just one point behind Division One leaders Newmarket Town, who suffered a surprise home defeat at the hands of Halstead Town 3-1, their first loss of the campaign.

Gorleston conceded six second half goals during a torrid afternoon in Essex, as FC Clacton hammered them 7-0 at FC Clacton - the home side's seventh successive win.

Bottom side Fakenham still have only one point to their name this season after losing 7-2 at Godmanchester, while Swaffham faired marginally better, losing 5-2 at home to March.
