Last Saturday a few of our teams were involved in the first round of the Norfolk Senior Cup. Scott McKinney scored a hat-trick and Owen Vander-Hoeven got another two, as Horsford United beat Caister 5-1.

Gayton United beat Wells Town 3-0 with two goals from Nick Bunting and one from Danny Raspberry. Mattishall travelled to St Andrews and won 5-0, scorers Danny Allen (2), Ben King, Robert Connelly and an own goal.

The next round of the cup is on September 6 and involves the remaining Division One teams before the Premier teams join at round three.

There were also two matches in the CS Morley Cup, Brandon Town Res beat Long Stratton Res 4-2 aet and Scole United Res beat Easton Res 4-3. On Tuesday, in the Premier Division Lewis Holsworth scored a hat-trick as Acle United beat North Walsham Town 4-0, Danny Crane getting the other goal. Beccles Town beat Hempnall 1-0 with an Alan Remblance goal. Blofield United and Loddon United drew 3-3, scorers Stuart Rushbrook, Chris O'Brien, Ross Durrant for home team and Hadlee Wright (2), Samuel Oliver replying. Brandon Town also drew with Watton United 2-2, with goals from John Waites, Shaun Brown and Chris Astbury, Paul Nichols for the visitors. Simon Durrant and Liam Davies scored for Cromer Town to give them a 2-0 win over Hindringham.

Sheringham beat AFC Norwich 2-1, scorers Oliver King, John Edridge and Wayne Nelson replying. Ben Welham got both goals for Sprowston Athletic to beat Wroxham Res 2-0. In Division One, Bungay Town drew 1-1 with Sole Bay, with goals from Joe McFarlane and Edward Collings. Andrew Moore scored for Caister as they travelled to Corton and won 1-0. Gayton United and Wells Town drew 2-2. Horsford United continued their good start with a 6-3 win over Stalham Town, scorers Alan Rudder (2), Owen Vander-Hoeven, Scott McKinney, Mark Bailes, Darren Nichols and for Stalham Michael Reynolds (2) and Steve Ellis. Simon Wooden got the only goal for Mattishall to beat Attleborough Town 1-0.

Scole United lost 3-0 to Long Stratton, scorers Shaun Moss (2) and James Barnes. James Page scored for St Andrews to beat Wymondham Town 1-0. This Saturday sees the first round of all our three knock-out cups with the draw for the next round of the Mummery Cup live on Radio Norfolk after the matches. Unfortunately Wortwell Res have withdrawn from Division Six, so their records are deleted and this now leaves four of our divisions with an odd number of teams.
