Former Norwich striker Robert Earnshaw yesterday refused to rule out a Derby summer exit.

The Canaries are among of posse of Championship clubs reportedly tracking the Welsh hitman with Rams' boss Paul Jewell set for a close season fire sale following relegated County's woeful Premiership campaign.

Glenn Roeder was linked with a surprise Carrow Road reunion in the January transfer window. Earnshaw has started just six Derby games since his £3.5m Norwich switch. The 27-year-old's only senior goal came in a 4-1 FA Cup Pride Park humbling by Preston.

“A lot of it is speculation, I'm sure,” said Earnshaw. “I don't really know what's going to happen in the summer. We'll have a look at it and the whole club is going to have a lot of people coming and going in the summer so I don't know. We'll have a look at it then and see. But there is four games and a month left of the season to go, so you've got to see what happens.”

Earnshaw is confident he can re-discover his scoring touch in the Championship after plundering 27 league goals in a 16 month spell with the Canaries.

“I've always said so long as I'm out there getting chances, I'll score goals. That's the philosophy.” he said.

“Cristiano Ronaldo's got so many goals but he gets four or five chances a game. We saw here, he had so many chances. That's the big difference whoever you are in football but especially when you're in the Premier League.”

Earnshaw expects Jewell to ring the changes in the coming months after Derby's latest 6-0 humiliation against Aston Villa at the weekend.

“The biggest thing is you've got to defend and you've got to create chances going forward,” he said. “And we haven't done either all season. Against Villa, it showed. It's hard to put words to it but you still have to pick yourself up because when things like this happen, it's how you react.”

League One promotion chasing Notts Forest have been widely linked with a £2m summer move but Jewell earlier this week revealed he had received no firm bids for the Welsh international.

“There is always going to be talk of players moving on,” said Jewell. “Talk is cheap and that's why, until someone picks the phone up or speaks to the chairman about a player, I can't comment. I haven't had a phone call saying, 'listen, can we do a deal for X, Y or Z?' but it might happen in the summer.”
