Stamford 2, King's Lynn 4

The Linnets twice came from behind to win an entertaining friendly at the Newflame Stadium last night.

John Turner, with a 10 minute second half hat-trick, and Joe Francis, were the Lynn scorers after Liam Mettam and Kev Childs had both found the target for the Daniels.

Linnets boss Keith Webb had to make do without his first-choice central defensive duo of Mark Warren (ill) and Greg Crane (work commitments) - so deployed the makeshift combination of Charlie Defty and Mark Camm.

Grimsby Town trialist Rob Murray was in goal and Webb was also keen to run the rule over ex-Manchester United trainee Lee Crockett.

But Murray was quickly into the action for all of the wrong reasons. He fumbled at an attempted clearance and, in the process, felled Mettam while sustaining an injury which required lengthy treatment.

Fortunately for him, the resulting free-kick came to nothing - but Mettam put his team in front on 27 minutes.

Another Lynn trialist Sean Ridgeway was booked following a scything tackle on Rob Hughes.

But the visitors leveled on 41 minutes when Michael Frew's glorious lifted pass to the back post set up Francis to coolly claim his fourth goal of pre-season.

Nine minutes into the second half Stamford were back in front when a Lee Culkin corner was met by an unmarked Childs, who gave Murray no chance.

Shortly before the hour mark Webb replaced his ineffective strike force of Jack Defty and Danny Bloomfield with Matt Nolan and John Turner. And the latter grabbed the second equaliser, set up by Ben Chapman and Francis.

Turner's second was a 25-yard pile driver, and he completed his hat-trick from the spot three minutes later following a crude Graham Drury tackle on Nolan.
