City forward Ian Henderson is to join Rotherham United on a month's loan.

Manager Peter Grant said that Millers boss Alan Knill had been pursuing Henderson for the last two or three weeks.

But Grant today flatly refused to comment on reports that he is about to sign Sunderland striker Chris Brown.

He said: “I am not going to say anything about anybody until they walk out with the strip on. There is nobody signed as yet.”

But as for outgoing players, he confirmed Henderson was on his way to Millmoor as a temporary replacement for Will Hoskins, understood to be joining Watford.

Grant said: “Henderson has agreed to go to Rotherham, which is great for him.

“They see him as a replacement for Hoskins at this time and he is very much looking forward to it.

“He's done exceptionally well in training and worked really, really hard to try to get back,” said Grant, after Henderson suffered knee ligament damage at Rotherham in September. “The unfortunate thing for him is there are not enough games. I think you could see that with the reserve game against Tottenham the other night.

“Rotherham have been interested in him for a few weeks, so I am looking forward to getting to see him play under pressure and play some league football.”

Grant is also hoping two or three other players will go out on loan, possibly striker Ryan Jarvis among them, but Jarvis picked up a knock in the Tottenham Reserve game and is unlikely to be considered for the squad for Saturday's Championship home game against Plymouth.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Brown is believed to have had transfer talks with the Canaries yesterday after a bid was accepted by Sunderland, believed to be more than £500,000.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane confirmed he had accepted a bid for Brown and fellow striker Jonathan Stead, although he refused to name the clubs involved.

However, it is understood a deal with City is close to being finalised and Brown could be eligible for the Plymouth game.

Brown was linked with the Canaries last summer when Sunderland were reportedly interested in striker Leon McKenzie, with Brown a make-weight in the deal.

The 6ft 1in striker has scored 11 times in 67 appearances since progressing to the first team in 2003, but is out of contract in the summer.

Ahead of the Plymouth game, Grant said a flu bug had been causing one or two players problems over the last few days, while striker Robert Earnshaw is still being treated with care in training because of a problem with his knee.

Grant said: “He's been doing a bit but we've been fairly cagey with him.”
