Congratulations to Runton from the NPSS NEN League as they are confirmed Slater & Frith Division One Champions, following back to back fixtures against Aylsham ‘A’, a 2-2 draw in mid-week and then a 5-2 last Saturday at Aylsham.
Although with games still to play they have claimed sufficient points to be crowned worthy champions, having missed out on the treble earlier they still have a chance to complete the double when they meet North Walsham ‘A’ in the Benevolent Cup final at Holt on May 13.
The runners up spot is still up for grabs, Haisboro Athletic, thanks to a brace from club stalwart Matty Brown when away at Worstead, currently occupy second place and if they win their last game against Horning, chasing Gimingham will be unable to catch them, this despite their fine 2-0 away win over North Walsham ‘A’ with goals from Robin Biggerstaff and Glen Thurston. East Ruston ended their recent run of poor league form with an odd goal of five win at Ludham, on target for them were Lee Woodhouse (2) and Mark Burton
Aldborough Lions moved into second spot in the Wayford Nurseries Division Two following their 4-0 home win over Corpusty Reserves, and promotion now depends on what happens next Saturday when Aldborough entertain Plumstead Rangers.
Southrepps completed their fixtures by winning promotion from Knights Trophies Division Three in their first season since reformation by finishing runners up to Trunch. A single goal was sufficient to claim the points at Aldborough Reserves who for their part have completed their fixtures and have finished bottom of the pile. Mundesley Reserves ended their programme on a high at Worstead Reserves winning 9-1, and there was a 4-2 away win for Holt Colt at Plumstead Reserves.
