The season has started off where the last one ended with Lynn North End back heading the table after a convincing win over Watlington.

Giving eight new players a start they came out 5-1 winners with goals from Tom Doughty, Nicky Bunting, Adam Archer, Luke Greer, and Ashley Smith. Last year’s County Cup winners, now under new management, lost to West Winch 2-0. A new look Sedgeford lost to Ingoldisthorpe by the odd goal out of seven, whilst Heacham had a first good win against Great Massingham 2-1.

Newly promoted Riverside and Castle Rising met each other and the game didn’t disappoint ending in a 3-3 draw. Riverside equalised the final score with a goal directly from a corner in the dying minutes. Kenzie Corbett had earlier missed a penalty for Rising. Castle goals from Jonny Parkes and notching up his 50th goal for Rising was Sam Hewitt, with Danny Clarkes making it 3-1. Flitcham were too strong for Hunstanton winning 6-2 to lead this week’s table. A local derby saw Ingoldisthorpe Reserves draw with Dersingham Reserves in an evenly matched game, strewn with injuries, which benefitted from the new roll on roll off subs trial. Thorpe’s men on target were Chris Hunt and a screamer from Rob Hewitt and in reply for the ‘Ders’ was Dane Hipkin and Kieran Taylor. Lynn Napier hit winning form to take the points from Smithdon.

Lynn Retreat celebrated their promotion to Division Three by taking part in a hard fought game against Gaywood at River Lane, narrowly winning 3-2 with goals from Dan Twaite (2) and Kenny Diggines, with the promise of better things when they are back to full strength. Birchwood started their campaign with a hard fought fixture against Greyfriars. Birchwood found the net five times from D.Illiff (2), G Ridsill, R Smith and P MacLean. Thanks to referee Lough who kept the game flowing. But it is Gayton United Reserves who head the table with a super nine-goal feast against Heacham Reserves. Wiggenhall were 3-1 winners over Redgate Ranger Reserves.

Division Four newly re-formed East Winch showed what we had been missing in their absence, and made up the 40 years gap with a win over Watlington Reserves. With goals from Lee Gardener and Nathan Seaman, but with a good all-round solid performance from the whole team. Tilney FC took on Snettisham Maroons without an official referee, so thanks to everyone who took the whistle to let this game go ahead. Tilney notched up their first win with a single goal from Adam Chenery. Lynn Williams faced a West Lynn team who had lost their Captain Daniel Western who unfortunately suffered a horrendous double leg break in a friendly on Wednesday, so here’s to a quick revovery and return to his rightful place. Goals from Alan Boughen and Liam Rodwell scored for Williams and it could have been more without goalkeeper Lewis Connor for West Lynn.

South Creake faced a tricky away game at local rivals Docking FC. It was Docking’s Tom Pettigrew who opened the scoring, and a half time lead. The second half saw goals from Dan Studd and sub Tom Schoenmakers. Great Massingham Reserves, Lynn Napier Reserves, River Lane Rangers all recorded opening day wins. New boys Castle Rising Reserves started off well with a 2-0 win with goals from Jake Ellis and Rhys Williams at the Woottons.
