HETHERSETT ATHLETIC U15 had a top of the table clash against Dereham Wanderers which proved to be as close as expected with both teams creating plenty of chances but defences coping well.

The difference between the teams turned out to be Hethersett’s top scorer Scott Grimes who found the back of the net twice. The victory must make Hethersett favourites to win the league. They are a point behind Dereham but with a game in hand. Victories in their last two games at home to East Coast and away to Diss will give them the title, but both will be tough games.

HETHERSETT ATHLETIC U16 went down 6-4 at home to Fakenham with their goals coming from Janix Reintjes (2), Stuart Dix and Alex Lorne.

HETHERSETT U14 began brightly against Attleborough with Aaron Mehtab opening the scoring from close range. Royce Stevenson doubled the lead with a curling shot following a good run. Jack Walker made it three with a thunderous shot from 25 yards. After the break Hethersett continued to create chances and Matt Youngs fired in a low shot to complete the scoring. It was a highly entertaining game which saw Hethersett continue their promotion push.

WYMONDHAM TOWN U9 had their last game of the season away to a strong Norwich United side. Despite some good play from Adam Day and Euan Stevenson’s usual determined performance, it was the home side that took the advantage. Benjamin Holden capped a fine display with a lovely goal but Wymondham were unable to capitalise and it was the home side that took spoils 3-1.

WYMONDHAM TOWN U10 travelled to reigning champions Brandon looking for another win to keep their own title hopes on track. The game was flowing from one end to another and Town were unlucky not to take the lead when Bryn Mullen crashed a shot against the crossbar. Chances were being created at each end and, after a great Lewis Thurston through-ball, Curtis Bell struck a post. Sonny Clarke and Luke Hunt had their work cut out keeping the lively Brandon attackers at bay and as the half came to a close Connor Milligan made a brilliant full-length save to keep it at 0-0. Jacob Bush, who battled bravely, was also unlucky with a couple of efforts that just flew jut wide. The second half started with chances at either end. Brandon went close on a couple of occasions and then from a Sonny free-kick Henry Metcalf headed agonisingly wide. With the game looking very much like a draw, a Wymondham corner was not properly cleared and the ball fell to Sonny on the edge of the box. He then hit his shot towards the top corner, and although the keeper managed to get both hands to the ball, it slipped through his grasp and Town had stolen maximum points. Final score:1-0. MoM: Lewis Thurston. Opposition MoM: Lewis Thurston.

WYMONDHAM TOWN UNITED U10 visited Dereham hoping to close the gap on them in the league table. After a promising start, where the boys played with energy and spirit, the hosts grabbed the all-important first goal to lead 1-0 at half-time. Jack B and Massimo in defence worked well while Jack C, Daniel and Will F had looked dangerous for United. However, at the start of the second half United seemed slightly deflated as Dereham were much quicker to the ball. Karin nearly found the target for United but they soon went 2-0 down. Will F hit a post and Daniel went close again but the ball wouldn’t bounce United’s way. Then Christy broke through down the right but the final ball went astray. When Lucas also went off hurt United knew it wasn’t to be their day and the home team ran out comfortable winners. Final score: 2-0 to Dereham. MoM: Massimo Wise.
