Kirkley & Pakefield continued their scintillating home form after a eight-goal bonanza moved them to the top of the Ridgeons Premier League, above CRC on goal difference.

Having shipped nine goals in their last two games, Histon Reserves came to Walmer Road with no fear, yet the young side looked out of their depth at times and were caught out as early as the eighth minute.

McKenna turned defender Warren brilliantly and his precise through ball found young Ryan Crisp to side-foot past keeper Sam Green to open the scoring.

Crisp then hit the crossbar with a header following a Dawson cross yet he got his just rewards soon after, scoring his second of the game as he toe-poked past Green after being played in by Carter.

As the first half continued, so did the K&P pressure and on 26 minutes Crisp had his hat-trick. As the youngster looked to have lost the ball after taking on three players, the ball deflected back into his path and he sublimely curled the ball into the top corner from 20 yards.

With many of the crowd still reliving the goal, it was 4-0 a few moments later as Manning's cross was headed home by Harvey-Cooper at the far post.

Striker Tommy Wright then went close for the visitors, before central defender Joe Jefford burst up the field and side-footed into the far corner to send the Royals in 5-0 up at the break.

To Histon's credit, they started the second half brightly and played some decent passing football, although K&P always looked dangerous on the break.

The young away side held the Royals until the 83rd minute, as McKenna played in Crisp to curl in another cracker past the goalkeeper for 6-0, this after the striker had struck the post with an earlier drive.

As Histon heads dropped, the Royals capitalised as Carter found McKenna to lash home from close range for the seventh goal of the game and the victory was wrapped up on 87 minutes with Dawson firing home following Stock's lay-off.
