EAST Norfolk Sixth Form College's women's football team made progress in their first game of the English Schools' FA Cup with a 4-0 away victory over a strong Paston College team.

The win came despite having many team members absent at the East of England trials for the colleges' national representative team.

Paston started putting pressure on the midfield, but good communication and hard work across the field meant that they rarely threatened.

East Norfolk made the most of their first corner 15 minutes into the game, Shelley Bayfield swung a ball into the box which deflected off the keeper to drop for Beth Freeman to blast home.

Early second half a goal was slotted in by Amy Hague. Paston responded but had only one opportunity at goal, which goalkeeper Eloise Hope comfortably saved.

The East Norfolk girls took charge and ran out convincing 4-0 winners after another goal from player-of-the-match Amy Hague and a penalty from Shelly Bayfield, her first goal for the college.

The college progress to the last 32 in the national competition and will take on West Suffolk Academy away on November 3.
