BOHEMIANS GIRLS U15 have scooped a major sporting award by being crowned this years EDP/Active Sports Norfolk 2009 Team of the Year. They beat off a large entry of very worthy entrants and were chosen winners with King's Lynn speedway team and Harleston Hockey Club finishing runners-up. They were presented with their awards by Radio Norfolk presenter Chris Goreham and Norwich boxing legend Jon Thaxton at the Forum in Norwich. This is the team's second season in the NWGFL. Their sporting behaviour was recognised internationally when they won the UNICEF fair play trophy at the Donosti Cup in Spain earlier this summer from an entry of 258 teams, also a great boost for girls' football in the county.

The team enjoyed a remarkable summer winning the following tournaments: R & T Tours, FITC Summer Cup, Norfolk FA Soccer on the Sands, Old Catton, Chatteris, Cambridgeshire FA as well as their own club tournament. They were also runners-up at Upton Park in the West Ham tournament and Watford FC tournament.

They thank all those people who give up their time to help with the running of this very successful team and to the parents whose attitude and appreciation of fair play is befitting of a club who were a few weeks ago awarded the Norfolk County FA Charter Standard Development Club of the Year. This weekend the U14 team received the Norfolk County FA Fair Play Award for 2009 together with a cheque for 200.

SEA CADETS: A team of six junior boys (ages 12-14) from the unit attended the East Anglia District five-a-side football competition at UEA, Norwich on Sunday. The team proved their worth by beating all their teams, and came away as junior boys champions, and will now go onto represent East Anglia in the East England area competition in Cambridge next month. Their scores were 12-1, 6-0, 4-1, 3-0. The officer in charge, Petty Officer Richardson, said: “The team did extremely well, and we are all extremely proud of them. It is the first time since 2001 that we have come away as champions and hope this is the start of many successes at competition.” The unit will also be competing in swimming and ceremonial competitions before Christmas. Anyone interested in joining the Sea Cadets, or for more information please contact 01493 650563 or visit www.tsnorfolk.org

BLUNDESTON MAGPIES U11 away to Waveney C lost 5-1. This match started off fairly evenly with little goalmouth action, Waveney pressure started to build mid-way through the half. A long shot from Callum went just wide. Waveney missed a penalty before Jamie broke into the box, forcing a great save from the keeper. Alex and Adam in the centre of defence were working very hard to stem the constant threat from Waveney, but before half-time Waveney pressure brought the first goal, a good shot from the edge of the box, before a quick second from close range. Sam prevented a third with a good save seconds from the whistle. Waveney were quickest to get going after the break, hitting the bar before getting a third. Things were looking up when Kieran scored low in the right hand corner from just inside the box following a free-kick on the left. The chance of a comeback was quickly squashed with Waveney scoring a close-range header after a superb initial save from Sam. Another Waveney penalty rounded off the scoring. Callum was man of the match for a solid performance playing out of position.

BOHEMIANS YOUTH U13A played Loddon in the league. Generally Bohs' play and commitment was nowhere near that of last week. All across the squad they must be more positive, from heading the ball, finishing chances, the first touch and quicker passes, taking the right options in midfield. Everyone must learn lessons and look at their own performance, improve the weaker parts of their game and do the good things more often. Robbie's half-volley was top-drawer, and Aston's header eventually won the game. Halesworth at home 12pm kick off, meet 11.15am at Belton.

BOHEMIANS GIRLS U16 were home to Swindell. Last season's four league encounters all finished in draws. Bohse started a little slow, having not played for a month. Dayna opened the scoring when she pounced following a fumble from the Swindell keeper and Chelsea increased the lead when the keeper turned Chelsea's corner into her own net. Swindell hit back well with a goal which owed a great deal to tenacity and determination. Second half Bohs were playing into the wind and the first few minutes saw Swindell up their game before Bohsstarted to knock the ball around and both Chelsea and Charlotte were causing havoc down the wings. Charlotte beat a defender for pace before firing home. Goal of the game came from a stunning 30-yard free-kick from Megan before Libby, who had a great second half, rounded the keeper before slotting home. Swindell's defence cleared off the line on at least three occasions. Thanks to Oliver, Matt and Terry who all officiated fairly and thanks to the Swindell parent who came over and was gracious in defeat. PoM: All the team. Sunday, at home to North Walsham, meet Cliff Park High School 10.15am latest.

BOHEMIANS U11 GIRLS played in monsoon conditions at Sprowston and suffered their only defeat of the season 1-0. With the goalmouth waterlogged Georgia had a magnificent game in goal as the Sprowston forwards played with the wind, hammering the ball at the Bohs' goal.. The conditions caused the game to be a war of attrition, both teams realising that a single goal would settle it. Briarnie, Millie and Antonia all went close but with the weather easing any advantage was wiped out. Indianna came on full of running and added to the attack. Sprowston did not look like scoring but a mis-hit shot looped into the Bohs' net. With five minutes left the Bohs attacked but could not get the equaliser. Georgia was player of the match.

CAISTER U9B drew 1-1 with Gorleston Rangers U9B. Back to league action with a closely fought game against Rangers The first half was mostly dominated by the visitors, but with some gutsy defending by all and with Reece in sparkling form in goal, the only goal of the first half was an unlucky own goal. With a much-improved performance in the second half, chances came and went, but with the never-say-die-attitude of the boys, it was down to hot-shot Alex Q to ram home the deserved equaliser. But for a fine save by the Gorleston keeper, he would have scored the winner. An improvement is a must for this week, so hard work in training is on the cards. Man of the match: Richie, for never giving up.

COBHOLM BOYS U12: Well done to Waveney C for playing with nine men, coming out 9-2 winners. The commitment and attitude outshone our 11, you need to start listening and take note, its the only way you will start improving. Training 10am Saturday sharp.

COBHOLM BOYS U9 played away against a good Blundeston side and just edged it, running out 5-3 winners with goals from Jacob and Keanan and Will F grabbing two each. Blundeston took an early lead, Cobholm kept their heads up and soon equalised. Blundeston got a corner and Cobholm cleared it, Keanan ran almost the length of the pitch to make it 2-1. Cobholm then had a mix-up at the back and let Blundeston in again to equalise. On the stroke of half-time, Cobholm grabbed another through Will F. Second half saw Blundeston equalise again, Cobholm then stepped up a gear. Keanan found the net once again for 4-3. Not long after, Will F made it 5-3 with a calmly-placed shot. Keanan, Jacob and William all played well but Jacob just edged edged man of the match for being all over the pitch. Training 10am sharp Saturday.

GORLESTON FC U11 played at Loddon against a very well-structured side. They started well with only 10 men, conceding only one goal, then got back up to the right numbers. GFC had some early chances but couldn't finish them. There was some good defensive work from the back four which included young Ben for the first time, and he seemed to excel in this position earning him the man of the match. The boys are getting better, they just need a couple of hunter/predator types as strikers, then they will be away. If any under-11s are up for the challenge, please call Daren on 01493 604654 or 07535696819. GFCe train Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

GORLESTON RANGERS U11 GIRLS were away to Horsford with a team stricken by illness and struggled against a full Horsford seven. Hannah C was in goal when she really should have been in bed, defence of Beth, Mary and Hannah S, Aimee in midfield and Neve a lone striker. For the first ten minutes Rangers were really under pressure. Hannah was alert enough to produce some of her best goalkeeping. Beth came alive and put in some great tackles, Neve's positioning was excellent. The breakthrough came with a superb throw in from Mary which was too much for the Horsford defence and they turned it into their own net. Amiee was soon into the goals with a well-taken effort. Second half tactics delivered from Sally seemed to do the trick. From Aimee's inch-perfect corner, Hannah S rose to place a thumping header into the Horsford net. Aimee was again on target and it was game over. Although Mary very nearly turned the ball into her own goal. Hannah C managed to dive full length to palm the ball away. Aimee struck again to make the final score 5-0. GoM: was the whole team. Next match cup game home to Sprowston, ko noon.

GORLESTON RANGERS U9A have thanked Turnstyle for sponsoring their home kit. In the picture is Turnstyle partner Jon White. Team (back row): Joe, Jack, Jake and George; front row: Connor, Finlay and Evan. Team member Bailey was ill on the day the photo was taken.

GORLESTON RANGERS U10 played Gorleston FC on Sunday and somehow only came away with a point when they should have walked away with all three. Rangers were playing great football all over the pitch but just couldn't find the back of the net. Soon they found themselves a goal behind but were level after Hazza sent a header into the roof of the net. The entire match Rangers were again the ones most likely to get more goals and when Callum appeared to be brought down in the area the boys and parents thought they had won a penalty, but play was taken back and Rangers were awarded a free-kick midway in the FC half. The boys never gave up and time after time went close to extending their lead. The team of TJ, Harrison C, Jayden, Alex, Hazza, Markus, Callum, Harrison T and Tyler L deserved more than a 1-1 draw. Man of the match went to the whole for keeping their heads up and never giving up. Next match in the cup against Yarmouth.

GORLESTON RANGERS U10B entertained a well-organised Shrublands. The early exchanges were even with Sam working the Shrublands keeper on several occasions. James PR made a couple of good saves but some ball watching in the Bs' area led to Shrublands scoring. The Bs responded with Ben, Henry and Lewis creating further chances for Sam which went unconverted. A great free-kick from Aaron rattled the upright but with no B player following up Shrublands broke and within seconds a goalbound shot was cleared off the line by Aaron tracking back. A speculative shot bounced over the diving James PR to give Shrubland a two-goal advantage. The second half saw Shaun take over in goal and his long goal kicking and good handling and diving kept the Bs in the game. Alex created a few individual chances with Luis providing cover for the advancing Joel, who battled hard. Sam again had opportunities but the Shrublands keeper stood firm. With the Bs chasing the game Shrublands broke and scored their third. Sponsors are Olive Tree Restaurant and Your Mortgage Solutions. Man of the match: Aaron Hudson.

GORLESTON RANGERS U12B played hosts to Gorleston FCB and were looking to continue their good run of form. This match turned into a hard-fought contest with FC putting up a tough fight and making Rangers work for their opportunities. Rangers created many chances throughout both halves but just lacked that final finishing touch. It is difficult to see how this game finished as a 0-0 draw. Credit to FC for sticking to task and they defended in numbers. Rangerse need to be more decisive in front of goal and start taking those chances. Man of the match was Lee for a hard-working performance. Next match is away to Harleston in the cup, 10.30am kick off.

GORLESTON RANGERS U13A somehow came off second best in the top-of-the-table clash at Waveney A. Rangers dominated possession early on, which resulted in the lively Callum Batley latching on to a great through ball to confidently beat the advancing keeper. Rangers failed to further capitalise on their dominance and allowed Waveney to draw level late in the half. The second half was an even contest, a penalty and a long-range free-kick in favour of the home team put the game out of Rangers' reach. This spirited Rangers team never gave up. They piled on the pressure late in the game, but Waveney kept the ball out with resolute defending. Waveney held on to claim all three points and put a serious dent in Rangers' title hopes. There were good performances from the whole defence, in particular Lucas and Callum, who both made terrific covering tackles, Joe McCabe for his distribution and man of the match Connor Deeks, who put in an excellent display. Next match against Caister at Gorleston Rec, 2pm. Meet ground 1.30pm. Any problems, call Steve 01493 669241.

GORLESTON RANGERS U8B played away to Waveney Youth last Sunday. Jaydn, George and Joe played very well in midfield, passing the ball around to create goal-scoring chances. In defence Harrison, Jamie and Logan stood firm, doing their best to keep Waveney at bay. Ethan, in goal, was again in fine form and made a string of fantastic saves to keep Rangers in the game. The match was played in good spirit and well supported by both sets of fans. Rangers would like to thank team sponsors, Harman Brothers Plastering and Busy Bees Nursery for their continued support.

GORLESTON RANGERS U8 are looking for more players to form a new team. Anyone interested will need to be in school Year 3 and not signed to any other team. For more information call Terry on 780695.

GORLESTON RANGERS U9B had a tough game against a strong Caister B. With two boys ill, Rangers had no subs but put on a good solid performance and went away with a draw. Rangers soon had their chances. Lewis and Ryan were passing the ball around well in midfield and linking up well with Adam. Both Harley and Ryan defended well, leaving Kane to make just the one save in the first half. Rangers kept on the pressure and nicked a goal before the ref blew for half-time. Rangers started the second half again with lots of possession but not making many clear-cut chances. The boys worked hard but midway through the half the tiredness set in, and not having any subs took its toll. Caister pressed and got a goal back. A great save by Kane stopped Caister from going ahead. A good, solid performance.

GORLESTON RANGERS U7A played away to a good Waveney B side. For the first 10 minutes both side were very evenly matched, then Rangers found their feet and started to play some fantastic passing football. All the boys battled very hard and gave 100 per cent for the whole match. Thanks to everyone involved for a very enjoyable game.

HEMSBY HORNETS U10B played the A team and came away with three well earned goals and a draw. Every time the Hornets took the lead, they equalised. All they needed was to get a two-goal advantage which would have then let their players play with a bit more freedom. The Hornets peppered their goal but found their keeper in fine form. Defending, work-rate, passing and movement were consistent throughout, and if this happens each week the Hornets can definitely pick up points. Full credit to the As' keeper. There was also someone on the line to head or kick the ball off the line. Full credit to the Bs who pushed forward the whole game looking for that winner. Goal scorers Kristian 2 and Jacob. Man of the match was awarded to Jacob but Kristian wasn't far behind. All the boys should be proud of their performances. Next match at home to Kirkley and Pakefield B, kick-off 12.30pm. Training Saturday morning as usual.

HEMSBY HORNETS U10A faced the B team. The Bs' midfield were very strong and the As had to play to their strengths of passing and moving on the counter-attack. It took a mistake at the back to gift them the lead, but the boys went straight on the attack again and forced a good save. Dominic, from a free-kick outside the area, hammered the ball home. Man of the match, Brady was having an awesome game and with Nathan and Dominic partnering, he had total control. From a corner a misjudged ball gifted them an easy second, but again the As responded well and Sam followed up Hadley's effort and eventually poked the ball home for the equaliser. Brennan got injured and was a big miss, but Hadley and Connor upped their game and started to get moves going with Billy causing problems with his pace. Second half both teams really went for the win and the defending and tackling had a bit more bite. There were goal line clearances at both ends. Then Owen produced a magnificent double save. They scored a third and again the As pushed for an equaliser. Brady made two fantastic headed goal line clearances to keep the As in it. The As got another free-kick in their half and Dominic scored his second with another powerful effort. They had a couple of close late efforts, but Hadley, Connor, Billy, Brady, Nathan, Sam, Dominic, Owen and Brennan had battled so well all game and totally deserved a draw.

HEMSBY HORNETS U7 played a very resilient Gorleston side which proved to be their best game yet. Ellis played outstandingly and was involved in nearly everything; Matthew made some great saves in the first half and took a good corner in the second. Andrew and Kyle played awesomly in defence as did Olly who had his best game yet. Alfie and Lewis had a great partnership up front, passing the ball around brilliantly. Jamie was working very hard in the middle of the pitch and provided some lovely passes.

HEMSBY HORNETS U9 WASPS: Captain Elliot led his troops against a strong Mutford side who were fourth in the league. Hemsby attacked with composure, Jed and Charlie were strong in midfield and Elliot's distribution was first rate from his goal kicks. The deadlock was broken when Matthew hit the post and Ryan tucked in the rebound. Minutes later Matthew scored his deserved goal to give Hemsby a 2-0 lead. The start of the second half saw good passing and strong tackling from both Jack and Liam at the back, with Thomas dangerous all over the pitch. Ryan scored to make it 3-0 but then a tactical switch saw Mutford pull back two goals to make it 3-2 with five minutes left. The whole team defended well at the end and Matthew could have made the game safe when through with the goalkeeper, but unluckily missed his chance. Training 9.30am on Saturdays at Kings Loke. If you can't make it please call or text Ren in advance. MoM: Ryan for all round play and two goals to give Hemsby their first win this season. Next match away to Waveney E.

HEMSBY HORNETS U7B travelled to a well organised Kirkley & Pakefield B. Wwith the whole squad working together this was one of the best performances yet. Throughout the side they battled for every ball and defended as a team. With the goalkeeper's kicking improving every week and the passing slowly coming together, progress is certainly being made. Well played to both teams for one of the most enjoyable games to date. Next game on Sunday at home to Harleston, kick-off 11.30am.

SWINDELL GIRLS U16 extended a warm welcome to new team member, Amy, new goalkeeper and also Ellie who had her first appearance of the season. They played Bohemians at Cliff Park School and were given a footballing lesson. Outplayed, out-fought, muscled off the ball so easily, all in all an awful display. Two early mistakes had Swindell on the back foot, but they started to make inroads with Mags and Porsha going close. They got back into it when Betty's, dazzling solo effort pulled one back to make it 2-1 down at half-time. Swindell huffed and puffed in the second half but Bohs had the upper hand and scored three more goals. Result: Bohemians 5, Swindell 1.

SHRUBLANDS U13 Girls are playing U13 and U14 level so girls are able to play each week. They played a good sporting side Freethorpe U14 last week. Shrubs girls are all playing up a year apart from one player. The girls haven't played for four weeks and this showed as they conceded a goal in first two minutes. Thee girls worked very well for each other with some pleasant football. The girls all had turn as subs except Harriet who went in goal, which Julie and Janet appreciate. This was a solid performance, keep up the good work at training and matches as Shrubs now have the players for each game. PoM: Katherine for second time in a row. Shrubs had one of those games and came out 16-3 winners. Next game against Swanton at home, meet Common noon sharp, U13s this week.

SHRUBLANDS JFC: To all old U16 players from last season who played for Steve/Ross, we are having a get-together at Merlins on Sunday, November 29 from 4-9pm approximately, it would be nice to see you all and see how you are progressing in adult life. Can you let Steve know if you can make it and bring your parents. We will have pool tournament and bit of fun. I think Arsenal play Chelsea that day, it will be fun so try to make it - Steve Dent.

SHRUBLANDS U10B played well in a competitive match in good conditions against Kirkley & Pakefield E. Lee converted two penalties before Shane hit an excellent shot past the keeper from outside the box. Shane rounded off the scoring with a well-taken second from inside the area. Late on Shrubs were sloppy dealing with a corner, allowing K&P a late consolation goal, but other than that an excellent team display. MoM: CJ. Training as usual Saturday. Next game Ormesby home, kick-off to be confirmed.

STALHAM YOUTH U12A, after two weeks without a game, played Old Catton B U12 and got off to a great start scoring after just one minute. Jake put in a lovely corner, which fell to Tom to smash in. Jake put in another great corner, which Adam buried into the back of the net to make it 2-0. After lots of battling in the box Jake hit a good ball through to Ryan to finish nicely for 3-0. Jake was rewarded with a goal himself, a nice left-foot shot into the bottom corner from a brilliant Adam cross. Both teams continued to battle hard throughout the second half. Stalham's defence of Tom, Dom P, Kieran and Luke had to keep on their toes. However, Joel in goal was on fire and pulled off two outstanding saves. Will, Aiden, Jake and Dom M battled hard in the middle too and put some great balls through to the hard-working wingers of Matti and Adam. Rylan and Ryan continuously worked hard up front to create lots of chances. Will and Rylan set up Matti whose shot was saved but fell to Aiden, who put a superb ball through to Ryan. He turned beautifully, hitting a sweet shot high into the top corner from 18 yards. Just before the final whistle Ryan fed Matti a great ball, which he finished into bottom corner, making it 6-0. PoM: Jake.

HEMSBY HORNETS U9 STINGERS played at home against a very well-organized and skilful Gorleston FC team. Hemsby played well throughout with some great moments but were beaten by three excellent Gorleston goals and some strong defending. Archie G made some good saves and could not be blamed for any of the three goals. Outfield, everyone played well and while in possession and passing the ball they looked in control, but shots on goal were hard to find. Jim, Archie S, Tom, Ben, Kahn and Rowan all had moments to remember but man of the match was given to Calum for his hard work getting back to help the defence when needed while working hard on the wing and up front. Home again this week at 10.30am against Waveney A.

SWINDELL U12B are looking for two defenders to join their team, they must be in Year 6 or 7. Training at Beaconsfield Park Saturdays, 12-1.30pm. Any further information required contact Gary Preece 07929000839 or 01493 842394.

COBHOLM BOYS U8 had a slow start against Halesworth after a good game last week. Silly mistakes in the first half made it hard work for the team. A brilliant second-half with plenty of tackling and passing; if they can continue this type of play for the rest of the season they will do really well. Man-of-the-match: Charlie. Training at 10am on Saturday.

BLUNDESTON MAGPIES U12 visited Hempnall on the back of a poor performance in their previous outing. This week, however, a different Magpies turned up. Against a strong Hempnall side the Magpies were confident and dominant, playing some good football. George was everywhere in the first half, showing skill and determination. Foxy and Chopper looked dangerous up front whilst the defence never looked troubled. Jordan's keeping ability is also spreading confidence through the team. Chopper and George scored a goal apiece but Magpies could have trebled their tally had it not been for the odd comedy miss and some excellent goalkeeping and defending from Hempnall. A number of players could have claimed MoM but Dan was a deserved winner for his display at right back. Goals: George, Chopper.
