Norwich City go into their next League One test hoping to prove that Bristol Rovers' formidable away record is just too good to be true - despite the efforts of a man called Andy Williams.

Rovers visit Carrow Road on Saturday with four wins under their belt in five away games, the best record in the division apart from leaders Leeds.

Supersub Williams snatched a dramatic stoppage-time win at Southampton on Tuesday night to keep Paul Trollope's team in third place, a point behind second-placed Charlton, and unbeaten in five matches.

Striker Williams secured a notable 3-2 victory for the Pirates over the Saints by curling home a superb left-foot shot, after they had twice fought back from behind. And manager Trollope admitted that Williams had given him a selection headache for the trip to Carrow Road, for which buoyant Rovers have already sold 1,000 tickets and are running a special "door-to-door" train.

"The goal belonged at the top level. Andy's impact was very good and he gave us fresh impetus," said Trollope.

"It was fitting that he scored the winning goal with a great strike.

"In his first year with us his general play was of a high order but he couldn't find the finishes it warranted.

"It was great for him that he came up with an end product like that.

"He's making good progress and improving all the time, both mentally and physically.

"It gives me a headache when I come to pick the team for Norwich on Saturday.

"He showed real resilience after being placed on the transfer list and he's proved me and Lennie (Lawrence, director of football) wrong. If he keeps contributing as he has over the last few games, he's got a big future with us. His skill and pace causes tiring defences problems."

Matchwinner Williams admitted: "I am hoping to start a game soon, of course. Everyone wants to start the game but I am just happy doing whatever it is that will help the team.

"It can be difficult coming off the bench, but it can also have an advantage. When I come on defences are tiring and I have fresh legs, which helps me."

Chris Dickson and Jo Kuffour cancelled out goals from Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert at St Mary's Stadium.

"The level of our play is improving all the time," said Trollope.

"It was a high-quality game that was a fantastic advert for League One."
