After another welcome three points ground out at Brunton Park I looked forward to hearing the fan's views on Canary Call. I was not disappointed as the first few calls were all singing, not surprisingly, their praises of Paul Lambert.

My thoughts went back to the last NCISA Forum when Lambert was one of our guests and he slipped in the one liner "I don't get close to the players". A touch of the Martin O'Neill's! Well someone has got to the players and obviously got them all singing from the same hymn sheet at Colney and on the pitch and that, for me, has to be Ian Culverhouse - an opinion endorsed by Ian Crook in his press interview earlier this week. Neil Adams reminded us that he played under Martin O'Neill at Carrow Road and confirmed that O'Neill was seen on the touchline at Colney for ten minutes or so and then about the same in the dressing room just before kick-off.

Those of us who spent three bitterly cold winter evenings watching our Academy lads in the Youth Cup did so because we were aware that we had another crop of very talented young players coming through to challenge for places in the first team squad.

This is a very different scenario to the almost barren years since when? Craig Bellamy? These lads have, in my opinion, a big advantage over the likes of the Jarvis brothers, Ian Henderson, Kris Renton, etc as they were on their own age-wise yet mixing it with the senior pros. This group is headed by Chris Martin and Michael Spillane who are still only 20 but who have had the benefit of being out on loan. Remember 'the two down the road' quip by Roeder? Well he did them, and us, a big favour. Now there are six or seven of them knocking on Lambert's door and all under 20. That is except Cody who is, I believe, 23 but still one of our "young guns" in waiting.

Korey Smith is the one who is leading the way having been in the starting eleven on a number of occasions and acquitted himself extremely well and it must be a big incentive to all the others. Not to mention Lambert and Crook for having great faith in their young charges.

Finally, I read Ken Hurst's article in Thursdays EDP, page 22, with its banner headline "Do we really need football fans to be so foul-mouthed?” Yes folks he was writing about some of you at Carrow Road! Is this really the case? If so what, if anything can the club do about it?

With the score at 5-0, and just seconds before Wes Hoolahan laid one on a plate for Jamie, the lady sitting behind bellowed “You are a waste of space Hoolahan”!

Well it IS all about opinions and I WILL apologise to the lady for my somewhat ungentlemanly response at the next home game.
