Harwich & Parkeston 0, Wroxham 2

Wroxham arrived at Harwich to find a horrible, bobbly pitch which was always going to be difficult to play on-even before the blustery conditions were taken into consideration.

Wroxham started well, passing the ball quickly with good movement, despite the conditions.

Chances for Paynter, Spriggs, Gilmore and Cook would have made the goalkeeper work harder in normal circumstances, but the bobbly penalty area made it hard to finish with quality.

Wroxham continued to attack, and a corner from Shaun Howes provided the breakthrough.

He curled the ball in and the sea of bodies attacking the ball took the eye of the goalkeeper and even though no-one got a touch, the ball flew into the back of the net.

Wroxham continued to press and further chances to Cook, Paynter, Lemmon and Spriggs went begging. Wroxham were finishing the half strongly, looking to increase their lead.

At half-time, Wroxham had amassed over 40 attacks.

Second half started and it was clear that keeper Howie was suffering after rolling his ankle on the surface during the first period.

McNeil was made to take all the goal-kicks, which, along with a spirited display by Harwich made the game more even.

Wroxham continued to create chances however, with Cook going close twice.

A great move down the left resulted in a cross from Howes and a header at the far post from Spriggs which the Harwich keeper saved well-Cook looped the rebound over the bar.

A forward pass from Howes then saw Owen Paynter get free and after rounding the keeper, he coolly slotted home to increase the lead.

King replaced Paynter up front and looked lively, as Harwich got a series of free kicks and corners.

Wroxham defended well and the only real threat of the afternoon was countered.

Daniels replaced Sprggs and looked sharp, delivering a great cross on the run which no one was able to make contact with.

With 15 minutes to play, Simpson replaced the hard-working Lemmon and continued in the same vein in the middle of the park.

All in all, a good display considering the condition of the pitch, which was a leveller.

All the best to Harwich, who continued to fight valiantly and on that surface in particular, will surely collect more points in the forthcoming weeks.
