Player to watch - Zak Whitbread: Unable to quite make the grade at Liverpool, the blonde American is a fans favourite at the New Den. The centre back is brave and quick and looks capable of playing at a higher level. Whitbread was the main cause of the Lions tight defence last season which got them all the way to Wembley for the play-off final.

Last league meeting: Millwall 1, Norwich City 0 (22 November, 2005): Norwich City's stop start season took another turn for the worse when they crashed to a painful defeat at the Championship's bottom side. Millwall's long wait for their first home league win of the season ended when young midfielder Marvin Elliott prodded the ball home from a corner to settle a distinctly scrappy encounter.
City connection: Chief scout Stuart Murdoch spent all of four days in January last year as City's goalkeeping coach before deciding he'd made the wrong decision.
