Kristian Jones, Sam Page and Kelvin Willimott were the scorers for the visitors, with Chris Holmes on target for the hosts.

Newcomers Mattishall suffered a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of the other promoted side, St Andrews, but are in an impressive fourth place. Thomas Amis and Alex Taylor scored for the Saints.

The pace-setters are last campaign's runners-up Blofield and Acle, both with 100pc records from three games.

Blofield maintained their fine start with a hard-fought 1-0 home success over a Dersingham, who have now lost all three of their matches. Roy Bevis scored the crucial goal as a run of successive clean sheets was maintained.

Acle recorded an excellent 2-1 victory at last season's title challengers Brandon, with Daniel and James Foreman scoring for the visitors, while John Waites netted for Town.

Beccles are third following a comfortable 3-0 win over Wroxham Reserves (Alex Remblance, Anthony Martin and Alex Holmes), while Spixworth United returned from Sprowston Athletic with a 1-0 win (Ramsey Gashut).

Cromer Town got their season up and running by beating Watton 4-1, with Matthew Eves notching a hat-trick and Darren Terrington also on target. Nathan Clarke replied.

In Division One, promoted Poringland Wanderers, Long Stratton, Caister and Corton set the pace with two wins.

Just behind them are promoted Reepham with five points from three games.

Caister were the only one of the early pacesetters in league action on Saturday and they came unstuck, losing 3-1 at Reepham, for whom Rodney Drake, Shaun Belton and Jason Hawkins hit the back of the net.

Highest senior scorers of the day were Stalham, who hammered Sole Bay United 5-0 with Steven Ellis scoring twice and Robert Burton, Darren Millar and Lee George getting in on the act.

Corton made it two wins out of three with a 2-1 home victory over Norwich St Johns. Quinn French scored both their goals, while Craig Vincent was the man on target for the visitors.

Scole United bounced back from two defeats with a timely 3-1 success over Kirkley and Pakefield Reserves (Sean Burden, Simon Green, Shane Farrow, Henry Wyndham for Kirkley).

Wymondham Town won 2-0 at Bungay, James McCloy scoring both of the goals.

In the Norfolk Senior Cup, Hindringham beat Poringland Wanderers 2-1 to set up a derby with Wells in the next round.
