Redditch Utd 2, King's Lynn 2

Only one of the 18 players who lined up at Redditch for King's Lynn's first pre-season friendly last night had a previous first team appearance to his name. Player assistant-manager Andy Johnson was the odd man out, the others being either summer recruits or trialists. Liam Murray, away on business, was the only one of new boss Carl Heggs' signings to miss the game. The Linnets were denied victory when Francino Francis headed an equaliser two minutes from time from a free-kick. They had earlier gone behind to another set-piece, Jack Byrne's kick being curled past Daniel Whatsize, but had come back to lead at the interval with two goals from Gareth Sheldon, the first a follow-up after his spot kick had been saved and the second a superb shot from 25 yards.

Starting line-up: Whatsize, Hodgkinson, Martin, McCaughtrie, Magunda, Johnson, Lloyd, Galbraith, G Sheldon, Story, Birkley. Subs: Robinson, Smith, Webb, Edwards, Moran, A Sheldon, Michael Emery (GK).

Lynn boss Carl Heggs along with chairman Ken Bobbins will be present at a fans' forum on Wednesday in the club's Blue and Gold function room at The Walks (6.30pm)
