Linnets' chief Carl Heggs has again raided Conference North champions Tamworth to recruit the 22-year-old midfielder. Birley was an ever-present for Tamworth last season after moving to the Midlands club in 2008 following spells at Lincoln and Bromsgrove.The former Birmingham City trainee made three top flight appearances for the Blues - making his Premiership debut in a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October 2005 along with two winning cup appearances the same season against Norwich and Reading.
Birley's arrival follows on from the weekend capture of Tamworth team mates Craig McAughtrie and Gareth Sheldon from Gary Mills' title-winning squad.
