Norwich City completed their 40th loan deal since relegation from the Premier League less than four years ago when they snapped up Fulham defender Adrian Leijer on Monday.

New boss Bryan Gunn snapped up a total of four players on a temporary basis during the latter stages of transfer deadline day to take the loan total for this season alone up to 14.

That's two more than a combination of Peter Grant, Jim Duffy and Glenn Roeder brought to Carrow Road in 2007-8 - and as many as Nigel Worthington and Grant completed in total over seasons 2005-6 and 2006-7.

Worthington arranged eight temporary deals in the first campaign after City's relegation, with the figure dropping to six the following term.

Of the 40 deals, two have involved a player returning to Norwich after a successful first spell (Ryan Bertrand and Jonathan Grounds) while five of the loanees subsequently joined the Canaries on a permanent basis (Dickson Etuhu, Carl Robinson, Luke Chadwick, David Marshall and Matty Pattison).
