Canaries winger David Bell has warned of the dangers of taking struggling Charlton too lightly - and ending up on the wrong end of another FA Cup surprise.

City's own form is poor, but Charlton's is even worse - the Addicks haven't won in their past 18 meetings, including a 1-0 Championship defeat at Carrow Road just before Christmas and the 1-1 draw in the cup 10 days ago.

But the FA Cup is notorious for springing surprises - and Bell wants to make sure that this year's shocks don't include him.

"They are not on the best of runs, but it's the FA Cup," he said.

"You've seen non-league teams beat league teams over the last few weeks so league form goes out of the window a little bit when it comes to the FA Cup.

"We are going to be looking to put another good performance in and just give the boys a bit more confidence and hopefully then we can go on a run where we get ourselves up the table.

"We got a good draw down there and we could have got a bit more out of the game in the latter stages of the second half, but it's a home tie and we have already had the draw for the next round and we've just played Sheffield United and we know what they're all about.

"It's either Sheffield United or Leyton Orient and if we win then we have a great chance of getting through to the next round and what everyone wants, fans, club, players is a big draw in the round after that."

City lost 1-0 at Bramall Lane on Saturday, but Bell believes there were encouraging signs.

"I felt second half we had quite a lot of the game and I felt we deserved to get something out of the game, but we didn't so we are going to be looking to win tonight," he said.
