Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean has praised the club for their care off the pitch, after signing a new two-year deal at Carrow Road.

The Scottish international's contract was due to expire next summer, but the extention keeps him in NR1 until at least 2025, with the club having the option to add a further year.

McLean couldn't be happier to stay somewhere his family are so well looked after, as he told the club's official channels. "As soon as you speak to people about Norwich, the first thing is it's a family club," he said.

"We're here to do a job on the pitch, but off the pitch the club try and do everything for you. Since I've been here, everything they do off the pitch makes your family feel comfortable and welcome. Delia (Smith) and Michael (Wynn Jones, the club's joint majority shareholders) have your family at the games, take them for meals. They feel like a part of it."

The 30-year-old discussed how that has made an impact on him, continuing: "We (McLean and wife Brogan) got married in the summer and they sent us stuff.

"Touches like that is a bit of class from the club, and everything that goes on on that other side, that's why you want to be here, because it is such a family-friendly club. The hardest thing is being away from your family, that's the only down side of being (a footballer).

"Ninety percent of players will be away from their family, because usually in this job you move. That's just part and parcel. It is tough. It takes me longer to get to Glasgow than it did to Tampa, so it's a bit of a mission.

"But it's worth it, because we are at such a good club. It's just the family thing, that's the only one thing that will always be the down side about being a footballer. But it's something we deal with, and while you're at this club you're going to get looked after.

"Obviously you miss your family, but here you feel settled, you feel at home a wee bit. You are well looked after, and your family feels looked after and stuff like that. It's a club you want to be at."
