Norwich City will be fully prepared when they return to Championship action against Swansea on December 10.

That's according to Canaries head coach Dean Smith, whose charges spent last week in the United States' Tampa Bay for a warm weather training camp, where Smith was looking to re-ignite an inconsistent season for his squad.

They went into the World Cup break fifth in the league standings and six points off the automatic promotion places having won just two of their last eight games.

Smith and his team's task during the break will be to address the issues behind that form, something he's confident they're already in the process of doing.

"We got some physical stuff done," he said of the work already undertaken Stateside, "but some tactical as well - our finishing, our creating, our build.

"The people who were here (at an open training session the club held for supporters in Tampa) will have seen us do some counter-pressing drills. They'd have seen us doing some eight-v-eights as well.

"There's been a lot of things we've been able to do this week, which has been really good. You don't normally get the opportunity to do that. The lads will tell you they've found it difficult, but it's been enjoyable. What a place to do it as well."

Speaking to the club's official channels, Smith said he hoped the four weeks without a competitive fixture could prove helpful. City are exected to play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Premier League opposition before travelling to South Wales.

The 51-year-old continued: "It's been different having a break, but we probably needed it. I was angry after the last game (a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough at Carrow Road), and the players knew that when they first saw me (in Tampa).

"But they've responded really well to what we want. The training sessions have been good. Their attitude and application has been spot on, and we'll be as ready as we can be for Swansea."
