Dean Smith previewed Norwich City’s Championship return at Swansea City - and we had all the key lines first direct from Colney with the boss.

Josh Sargent is 'touch and go' for the trip to Wales, but Smith indicated the right ankle injury that kept him out of the US's World Cup exit to the Netherlands is not a major issue.

Sargent flew back to the UK on Monday and has been assessed by the club's medical department during this week.

Marcelino Nunez (hamstring) is another major doubt after picking up a hamstring issue in two pre-World Cup friendlies for Chile.

Jon Rowe has undergone surgery for ankle ligament damage and will be out for at least two months. Rowe was only recently back in training after a shin problem but felt the issue at the club's warm weather training camp in Tampa.

Sam Byram (hamstring) and Jacob Sorensen (foot) are in the 'late stages of rehab'. Byram missed the games against Rotherham and Boro with soreness in a tendon.

City's head coach and players have had plenty of time to stew on that home defeat to Middlesbrough on November 12, during the World Cup domestic shutdown.

Smith did confirm they played a Manchester City side last weekend at St George's Park in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Both Andrew Omobamidele and Adam Idah had 30-minute run outs and are available this weekend. Omobamidele (ankle) and Idah (knee) had been out for a number of weeks.
