Norwich City will not offload Milot Rashica in a cut-price deal to Galatasaray.

The Kosovan international has already impressed in a season long loan move, after falling out of favour in the early weeks of the Canaries’ Championship campaign.

Turkish media recently claimed the Istanbul club were keen on exploring a €5m permanent transfer at the end of the current season.

Rashica’s representative, Altin Lala, met Gala officials and the player was reportedly open to a permanent move if Norwich could agree a deal.

But leading daily sports newspaper, Fanatik, state City have a ‘higher valuation’ of a player who arrived from Werder Bremen in 2021 for a potential club-record transfer.

Gala CEO, Erden Timur, was set to travel to England for talks with City officials ahead of the January transfer window to explore a longer term solution for a player who has made seven Super Lig appearances.

Fanatik claim that could potentially include thrashing out terms for a second season on loan for Rashica, who is under contract at Norwich until 2025.

There was no loan fee involved in the original move, according to Gala’s official site, which went through in the closing days of the Turkish summer transfer window.

The 22-time national champions have a similar issue with fellow loanee Mauro Icardi, with his parent club PSG unwilling to sanction a cut-price exit for the Argentine international.

Dean Smith indicated prior to the Championship comeback win at Swansea he aims to add some cover to his squad in what otherwise will be a quiet January transfer window at Carrow Road.

The City head coach allowed Rashica and fellow wide player Christos Tzolis to depart this season in search of regular football. Greek youngster Tzolis is currently on the comeback trail after suffering a knee injury in the early part of his loan spell at FC Twente in Holland.

Rashica scored once in 35 Premier League appearances during a disappointing debut tour in green and yellow that ended in relegation.

Gala’s squad is currently at a winter training camp that includes friendlies against Lazio and Toulouse as they gear up for the return of the Super Lig season following the World Cup break.

Okan Buruk’s title contenders are two points behind arch rivals Fenerbahce, and return to league action on Christmas Day.
