Norwich City goalkeeper Daniel Barden has joined National League side Maidstone United on loan - and makes his debut on Tuesday night at Dorking.

The young stop-stopper has signed for the Kent-based side on a temporary deal for the next month - marking his first spell away from Norwich since being given the all clear from testicular cancer.

Barden has made four appearances for the club - all coming in the 2020/21 season, including two in their title-winning Championship campaign when senior shot-stoppers Tim Krul and Michael McGovern were injured.

His progress continued after that breakthrough campaign with a loan move to Scottish Premiership side Livingston. That was cut short due to his diagnosis in October 2021.

Since, he has undergone successful treatment and continued his recovery at Colney - featuring three times for City's U21 side this season and getting recalled to the Wales youth set-up.

Barden was also an unused substitute in City's EFL Cup penalty shootout defeat to Premier League side Bournemouth in August.

Maidstone sit 20th in the National League and are fighting against relegation. Barden could feature in all five matches in the next month.

The Stones needed to move quickly after Millwall loanee, Ryan Sandford, was ruled out for 'four to five months' last week with a shoulder injury.
