Former Norwich City midfielder Tom Trybull has signed for the Canaries' Championship rivals Blackpool on an 18-month contract.

The Seasiders have an option to extend the deal by a further year, as Trybull arrives from German second tier side SV Sandhausen.

Trybull won the Championship title with Norwich in 2019, playing 31 times on the way to that triumph under Daniel Farke. He spent the final year of three in Norfolk on loan with Blackburn Rovers, before joining Hannover in the summer of 2021.

He moved from there to Sandhausen less than six months later, spending a year with the Bundesliga 2 strugglers before moving to Lancashire. He made 80 appearances for the Canaries in total, scoring five goals and registering one assist.

Speaking about his move to Blackpool, the 29-year-old told official club channels: “I’m very happy to have signed for Blackpool.

"I’m happy to be back (in England) and I’m looking forward to the upcoming weeks, months and challenges, which are very exciting. I want to help the team and the club to achieve the goals for the rest of the season and play a big part. I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton said: “We’ve spoken about how important it is to have a good mix and balance in the squad.

"Tom brings vast experience – he’s played in the Premier League, the Championship and overseas as well. I’m delighted that we’ve signed him. He’s very calm on the ball and has the awareness of being in the right place at the right time when it comes to that central midfield role.”
