Norwich City's on-loan youngster Bali Mumba was delighted to silence the Ipswich Town fans with his last-gasp equaliser for Plymouth Argyle on Saturday at Portman Road.

Wes Burns' strike had the Blues on course for a big win against the League One leaders in front of a crowd of 29,069.

But Mumba, on loan from the Canaries, sent a curling shot into the top corner three minutes into stoppage-time to maintain the Devon club's seven-point lead over Town in the table.

"It was great after the stick I was getting!" said the 21-year-old, who also scored against Town when Plymouth came from behind to win 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Home Park.

"The best way to silence them was to get the goal!

"I dropped in the pocket. Jordan (Houghton) went wide, I drifted in, it was a great pass by Finn (Azaz) and as soon as I took that touch my eyes lit up. There was only one thing on my mind and that was to shoot. Thankfully it went in.

"It's a moment I will always remember and cherish. The Plymouth fans travelled in such numbers and gave us great support, so send them home with smiles on their faces makes me happy.

"The atmosphere was incredible. It was a huge game and it's a huge point. Hopefully it means a lot come the end of the season."

Plymouth flew up to Norfolk and trained at Norwich City's training ground on Friday as part of their preparations for this game.

"It was nice to be there again and see some familiar faces," said Mumba.

"I think the new manager (David Wagner) came and watched a little bit of training and spoke to our gaffer (Steven Schumacher).

"It was nice for him to introduce himself to me and for me to introduce myself to him."

Wagner indicated on Friday before the Canaries travelled north for a thumping 4-0 Championship win at Preston no final decision had been taken on whether to recall Mumba this month.

Asked after his late starring role if there was potential for his loan deal to be cut short, Mumba said: "I'm only focussed on where I'm at. My focus is to give everything I've got for Argyle. Until a decison is made my main focus is on finishing the season off here."

Pilgrims' chief Schumacher revealed his side's pre-match preparations had involved a stop over in Norfolk.

“We are getting a relationship with Norwich. We got Bali off them (on loan) and we’ve signed Saxon Earley too. We keep in contact with them because they always produce good players," he said.

“We have a good relationship with Stuart Webber (sporting director) and the loans manager, Neil Adams, so they let us (use the training ground).

“We had this planned a while ago, when Dean Smith was still in charge. We met David Wagner and he was really welcoming, which was good.

“Obviously they are Ipswich Town’s big rivals so we had better change the subject. But we appreciate it because it’s helped us.

“We would do the same if it was the other way around but I don’t think they play anyone near us.

"Bali's got loads to learn defensively but he has so much ability going forward. He’s done it before against Ipswich and I’m sure the Norwich City fans will be delighted he’s managed to score two goals against them this season.”
