Tyrese Omotoye knows it is time to kick on in his career after swapping Norwich City for life at the bottom of League One with Forest Green.

The 20-year-old striker completed a permanent move on Monday after failing to make the grade at Carrow Road.

Striker Omotoye looked to be on track to emulate Adam Idah and progress from the City academy when he forced his way in the first team picture under Daniel Farke, during the 2020/21 Championship title winning season.

The forward finally cut his ties with Norwich after loan spells at Swindon, Orient and Carlisle despite 18 months left on his existing Carrow Road deal, after he was rewarded for a brief first team breakthrough with a new longer term contract.

The attacker felt the time was right to help bolster Forest Green’s bid for League One survival.

“The big thing for me now was to find a home, a bit of stability, and somewhere I could play for a few years rather than going out on loan. That was a big factor for me,” he said. “It is a platform for me now. A very good place to be in the short term.

"I got a call after training and was told a club was interested in me.

“The manager has made it clear. As a striker I am here to deliver goals. But I will do whatever is needed for the team, playing off the left, playing off the right.

"I’ve had a few training sessions and I am enjoying getting to know the boys, learning about how we play a bit more, what we do on set pieces. The games come thick and fast and I am ready to go.”

Omotoye was a regular at development level for Norwich this season after a trio of frustrating lower league loan moves.

“I have taken those experiences very positively. They were needed for me at the time and I have gained a lot in a short period,” he said, speaking to his new club’s official site.

“At Norwich it was good for me this season to play and get minutes because I didn’t get so many in my loan spells. I have really enjoyed that aspect but now it is time for me to kick on at first team level.

“I like to get one-versus-one with the defender. I like to score goals. That is the main thing. I want to come in and score as many goals as I can and help this team out.
