Norwich City Women were made to pay for their missed chances as they went down to a 3-0 defeat at London Seaward.
City came out of the blocks quickly but found themselves behind when a mix-up at the back led to Seaward striker Samantha Lanza getting the ball past Jess Harper from close range.
City then went on to have four first-half chances that if it hadn’t been for Seaward goalkeeper Alicia Garwood they would have been level. Alice Parker’s cross-field passes were causing the London-based team all sorts of trouble, but Freya Symonds couldn’t finish on three occasions.
Within two minutes of the second half kicking off Seaward had a two-goal advantage as Rea Thomas-Arayo scored after breaking the Norwich back line.
It felt like it was going to be one of those days for the Canaries’ ladies when Alice Parker’s free-kick smashed the woodwork and then another just dribbled wide.
It went from bad to worse as a long-distance effort from Rea Thomas-Arayo beat stand-in keeper Jess Harper to make it 3-0.
