Wigan Athletic are showing a late interest in signing Norwich City midfielder Danel Sinani, according to reports.

With the clock ticking towards Tuesday's 11pm deadline, the Sun's transfer expert Alan Nixon is reporting that the struggling Lactics are lining up a move for Sinani as they continue to battle Championship relegation.

The report states that Norwich and Wigan have entered talks on a loan deal that would see Sinani move to Lancashire until the end of the season.

Football Insider expert Pete O'Rourke is now reporting that the clubs are now in advanced talks over a move.

Norwich would be open to letting Sinani depart before the window closes after recalling Christos Tzolis from his loan at FC Twente and adding Arsenal youngster Marquinhos to their attacking ranks on Deadline Day.

Those moves have pushed Sinani further down the pecking order - with Wigan in the market for attacking reinforcements.

Shaun Maloney has replaced Kolo Toure at the DW Stadium and the Irishman is hoping to strengthen his squad prior to the January window slamming shut.

Sinani has been linked with both Coventry and Birmingham earlier in the window, but the pair's reported interest is understood to have been wide of the mark.

Wigan now face a race against the clock to get a deal for Sinani over the line - with Norwich not expected to add any further players to their squad in this window.

Elsewhere, former Norwich loan export Aaron Ramsey has joined Championship rivals Middlesbrough on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Aston Villa youngster cut short his spell at Carrow Road earlier this month to undergo rehabilitation for a knee injury sustained during the Canaries' mid-season training trip to Tampa Bay.

Michael Carrick's side have swooped to add the England U21 international to their squad alongside fellow Villa youngster Cameron Archer, who signed earlier this month on a loan deal.

Ramsey made 20 appearances for City in the first half of the campaign, scoring three and assisting as many during his time in Norfolk.
