Angus Gunn has put down a marker but David Wagner is planning changes to pep up Norwich City after a sluggish Championship stalemate at Wigan.

Gunn made a series of important stops during a 0-0 draw, in what Wagner ranked a below-par performance from the Canaries.

The City chief aims to freshen up his roster for Birmingham City’s league visit on Tuesday to Carrow Road.

Josh Sargent is a rated a ‘major doubt’ after a half-time exit with an ankle issue. Teemu Pukki (calf) is likely to miss out again, but exciting Arsenal loanee Marquinhos could feature for the first time since his recent move, after overcoming muscular problems.

“He will be involved on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure,” said Wagner, who will provide a further fitness bulletin at Colney on Monday afternoon. “He was available for selection. But he only trained (on Friday) the first time. This is why we decided to not take him into the squad for Wigan.

“Josh and Teemu, both are a big doubt, but we will assess them and see what it looks like nearer to Tuesday. Everybody likes to play, everybody likes to grab a shirt, everybody has an opportunity.

"Especially when you have so many games. We wanted to make some changes anyway, because we need to for our football to have a certain freshness in our legs, to really be able to chase the opponents down.

“In the second half. fitness wise, we didn't have a problem. We dominated them without creating something. So fitness wise this was good to see that that we can compete. And we have to make sure that we pick the fresh ones for Birmingham.”

Gunn grabbed his chance after Wagner initially opted to recall Tim Krul when he first arrived at Carrow Road.

“It was an outstanding performance from Gunny right at the moment where we needed it,” he said. “And obviously this helped us, and will help him for sure as well. We knew he was a very good goal keeper.

"In three games, we won, we drew one, we lost one. We move on with him and hopefully he can perform consistently on the level like he has done, because we will need it.

“For a goal keeper, it's very important to keep clean sheets and then obviously to keep a clean sheet without making any errors.”
