LOWESTOFT TOWN 4 WITHAM TOWN 0

A display of exciting flowing football from Lowestoft Town swept Witham away.

The Trawlerboys had effectively won the game by the interval when they were already three goals ahead.

Lowestoft took control from the start with Adam Hipperson, Kyle Haylock and Jake Reed all going close.

A foul on Read gave Lowestoft a free kick just outside the area but Robert Eagle just cleared the bar.

Hipperson was having a lot of success down the left flank and from his cross Haylock’s header skimmed the upright.

It took Lowestoft 31 minutes to break the deadlock when a scramble in the Witham penalty area saw Reed twice have shots blocked before Haylock slammed the ball home from 12 yards.

It was 2-0 four minutes later as Lowestoft’s slick passing bemused the Witham’s defence as the ball was played from Hipperson to Eagle to Reed who put it on a plate for Hipperson to hit home just inside the near post.

Lowestoft netted their third goal in the 42nd minute with Reed taking a return ball from Eagle to curl the ball beyond Ben Lane into the far corner of the net.

A couple of minutes later Reed was again brought down just outside the area earning Gaz Dauti a second yellow card leaving Witham with 10 men for the rest of the game.

Lowestoft seemed content to just play out the second period allowing Witham to come more into the game.

A mistake in defence allowed Michael Bareck to knock the ball past Burwood but Travis Cole raced back to clear off the goal line.

Lowestoft added their fourth goal in the 77th minute with Hipperson and Henderson exchanging passes for Hipperson to slip the ball past Lane for his second goal.

In the final minute Bareck's fierce drive was pushed over the bar by Burwood.
