Jacob Sorensen was delighted to step up his Norwich City return with a goal after a frustrating and lengthy injury absence earlier this season.

The Danish international made his first start since August against Cardiff last weekend and marked his recall to midfield with a goal and assist during Saturday's vital 3-2 victory over play-off chasing Millwall.

Sorensen played a key role in two clever corner routines, latching onto Gabriel Sara's pass to stroke the ball into the net for the equaliser before turning provider to find Onel Hernandez who saw his cross deflect into the net via Tom Bradshaw.

This season has proved frustrating for the 25-year-old who has spent the majority of it sidelined after picking up a long-term injury at Hull back in August.

City's midfielder revealed that it was an issue he suffered towards the end of their dismal Premier League campaign.

"It was a freak injury," Sorensen said. "I had it for so long, even last year. During the summer I was hoping it would settle down a little bit but it didn't.

"I needed surgery to pin the bone. It's been frustrating and it's taken a long time to come back. I thought I would be back sooner than I was but it's good to be back now.

"I feel healthy and fit. I feel fitter than I have a long time - I had been struggling with the injury for months before the surgery so now I don't have this in my mind.

"Every player wants to start here, and if you can't, then you just want to be around the team. It is a great feeling to go back into the dressing after this game, so I'm buzzing right now."

Sorensen played a crucial role in the heart of Norwich's midfield at the Den - tasked with halting counter attacks and providing balance to their engine room.

The win has taken the Canaries back inside the top six, with their positive form under David Wagner continuing.

"It's been intense but also good," Sorensen said on life under City's boss. "He is getting the best out of the players. As long as we are winning, we are happy.

"He's a good man. When you do things right he is praising you and when you're not he tells you. Overall, it's been really good working with him, and I hope we can continue this run."
