David Wagner has a simple plea for Norwich City fans – we need you.

The City chief views the backing of the Carrow Road home support on Easter Monday as pivotal to reviving their Championship play-off bid.

City moved back within a point of the top six with a 2-0 Good Friday win at Blackburn, but have lost their last two at home ahead of a Rotherham test.

“Come on, everybody come on. Make sure that we are all together and know what is needed,” said Wagner. “This is maybe the first time I have said this. To reach the play-offs it has to be something special on the grass and in the stands.

"If we want to reach the play-offs we will not do it by our own, for sure. This is why I ask our supporters to be on their best, and not only to come in numbers, like always, but to be loud and be supportive.

"We have to win our home games. It is as easy as that. The first one is on Monday. We need every single City supporter to be at their best, to be at their loudest, because this team deserves it after what we faced at Blackburn.”

Wagner’s depleted squad overcame fresh injuries before and during the game in a spirited Ewood Park victory.

“We know the results in the previous four games were not good, and we didn't perform on a good level, to be fair as well. We were fairly criticised,” he said. “We took the criticism. But I said this before, they are not bad characters because they played a few games not on their best. This is not how it is.

"They are good characters. And I always knew this. And it is great that they've shown it. Hopefully this means as well, as I said, that we can get now at the home games the support which we really, really need now to make something special happen.

"I said it to the boys before the Blackburn game, ‘Win, lose or draw first of all make sure that we all together afterwards. We will fight like there is no tomorrow and play football to our strength, to our identity’.”
