The path has been cleared for Norwich City coaching target Narcis Pelach to move to Carrow Road, with his departure from current club Huddersfield Town announced.

The Terriers have confirmed Pelach's departure, revealing that he's left Yorkshire "to seek a new challenge".

It's understood that the Spaniard will move to Carrow Road to become part of David Wagner's backroom staff for the 2023-24 season, after sporting director Stuart Webber claimed that a new coach would be announced "very soon".

Pelach said in a statement on his own Twitter account:"Now the time has come to say goodbye.

"In case we do not cross paths again, thank you very much for all that you have done for me, and I wish you the very best.

"It is hard to explain how I have felt working for this club. I have put in all my energy and effort from the very beginning and I am honoured to have represented Huddersfield Town for three seasons.

"In all these days, without exception, I tried to help the managers, the players and the staff as much as possible. All of my passion went into trying to be a Terrier and wanting to represent all of you well."

Pelach started his managerial career with Catalan side Figueres, before joining Peralada in 2018.

He then became assistant manager at Girona in 2019, before joining Carlos Corberan's Huddersfield staff in 2020. He spent three years at the John Smith's Stadium in various roles, including as interim manager on two separate occasions.

Pelach will be Wagner's second coaching change since arriving in January with assistant Christoph Buhler, after set-piece coach Allan Russell departed in March.

The Canaries statement said that the Scot had left “to pursue alternative opportunities”, but Russell is yet to find employment elsewhere.

Andy Hughes, who worked with Buhler, Wagner and Webber at Huddersfield, was promoted from loans manager to a first-team coaching position after the German pair's arrival in Norfolk, and filled in as set-piece coach after Russell's departure.

No announcement is imminent on Pelach's arrival at Norwich, but is expected within the coming weeks.
