Norwich City are reportedly keeping tabs on Brazilian duo Nathan and Gustavo Mosquito.

Brazilian news site Itatiaia claimed late on Tuesday night Sao Paulo right back Nathan and Corinthians attacker Mosquito are the latest potential targets identified by the Canaries’ south American scouts.

City’s pain-staking work in that region paid off last summer with the arrivals of player-of-the-year Gabby Sara and Chilean midfielder Marcelino Nunez.

Now Itatiaia’s Sao Paulo correspondent, Luis Fabiani, reports City have pinpointed a new duo for the upcoming season.

Nathan is a 20-year-old full back who has made 15 appearances for Sao Paulo in a breakout year that included minutes in Brazil's top tier and the Copa Sudamericana.

The attacking right back is under contract until December 2024, and was previously on loan at Coritiba, City’s partner club in the territory, until he was recalled due to an injury to first choice Igor Vinicius in February.

Sao Paulo would not be drawn on reports of Norwich’s interest, but Fabiani claims ‘Tricolor’ would be willing to sell if European clubs meet their valuation.

Corinthians right-sided attacker Mosquito is out of contract at the end of the current league season in Brazil, which runs from April to December, and could reportedly sign a pre-contract from next month onwards.

The 25-year-old had 11 goal contributions from 50 appearances last season, and featured in the Copa Libertadores, but has been sidelined since October after rupturing knee ligaments. Mosquito, who can operate anywhere along the front three, is on course to return to action in the first half of July.

City sporting director Stuart Webber made it clear, in a post-season interview to the Pinkun, a swoop for Sara and Nunez last summer was only the start of the club’s transatlantic transfer strategy.

“I think South America is going to become a big market for this club,” he said. “If we can get one right from that market, my God, it can open up that market to us big time. And that's what it's done.

“It is about people knowing about us in south America and knowing that Norwich could be our gateway to a big club in Europe. That's great for us.”

Webber also disclosed in that post-season interview Sara’s eye-catching debut in England had attracted ‘big transfer’ interest in the attacking midfielder.

Norwich have so far recruited Ashley Barnes, Jack Stacey and Shane Duffy to David Wagner's squad plans. Spanish wide player Borja Sainz is expected to become City's next senior addition in the coming days.
