Hamilton Academical chairman Allan Maitland has seemingly confirmed Norwich City signing of the Scottish club's young midfielder Gabriel Forsyth.

The Canaries have been close to completing a deal for Forsyth, 16, for a number of weeks, but look set to announce it shortly after Maitland confirmed his departure in an article on the Accies' official website.

"I would confirm that I have this week reached final agreements with Norwich and Leeds Utd for the formal transfer of Gabriel Forsyth and Josh McDonald retrospectively," he said.

"This sale resonates with our first prominent graduates James McCarthy, Brian Easton and James McArthur who are the only trio to ever be transferred from any Youth Academy to the English Premier League.

"As ever, the agreements contain substantial “add on’s” that have benefitted the Club so much in the past and will continue to do so."

Forsyth will initially join up with the Norfolk club's development side, but is viewed as an exciting prospect after making his senior debut last term.

The deal is reported to be worth an initial £150,000.
