Plenty of cash was splashed in deals involving Championship clubs on deadline day, as clubs scrambed to complete their recruitment before the window closed.

City closed for business just after 7pm on Wednesday, with young wide player Glenn Middleton's switch to Rangers the only piece of confirmed business in the final 24 hours of trading.

But the biggest deal of the day in the Championship involved Preston's Jordan Hugill, with the former Ipswich target making the move to Premier League West Ham in a deal said to be worth £8million.

That was closely followed by Bolton's Gary Madine, who swapped a relegation battle for a promotion fight as he moved from the Macron to Cardiff for a fee rising from £6million.
