One of Norwich City's greatest triumphs was remembered, as stars and supporters gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Milk Cup win.

On March 24 1985, skipper Dave Watson lifted the trophy at Wembley Stadium after the Canaries beat Sunderland 1-0.

And Carrow Road was the location for an evening of celebration, which was attended by the then manager Ken Brown, and some of the players who made history, including Mick Channon, Dennis van Wijk and Asa Hartford - the man whose shot was deflected in by Sunderland defender Gordon Chisholm for the winning goal.

Those who gathered were also treated to video messages from Watson and man-of-the-match Steve Bruce, who were unable to attend.Brown said: 'The club is magnificent. It's a tremendous experience for me. To think they still honour this sort of thing, that just amazes me.

'To see some of the players that used to be here is mind boggling. Everything about Norwich, for me, has been first class. Having the success we had is always a big thing and it was nice to be part of it.

'I can't think of anything better right now. I am meeting people tonight I haven't seen for years and it's so lovely. They haven't forgotten me. I feel embarrassed but I feel great.'

Channon said: 'I was having my swan song and was thrilled to be involved with a cracking club like Norwich.

'Winning was everything. Nobody remembers the runner up of a cup final. What we had to do was win and that's what we did. It was a tough old game.'

He added: 'We have had a good laugh already tonight. It's good to look back and have a laugh.'

Guests were able to relive the events of the memorable cup run, which included wins over Preston, Aldershot, Notts County, Grimsby and - in the semi-final - Ipswich.

They were shown unique video and photographs throughout the evening, as well as hearing speeches from the players and taking an opportunity to ask questions of their own.
