Norwich City fans remember him in green and yellow, pulling the strings in the Canaries midfield at the beginning of the 21st century.
But these images show the culmination of seven years of hard training for a new profession - as a deacon in the Dominican Order.
Mulryne, who joined Norwich from Manchester United in 1999, making 161 appearances and scoring 18 goals, is now on course to become a priest next year.
The 38-year-old was made a deacon in the Dominican Order at an ordination at St Saviour's church in north Dublin.
The former midfielder was ordained by the Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin. Family and friends were at the church to celebrate the occasion on Saturday afternoon.
The ex-Northern Ireland international was a product of the fabled youth system at Old Trafford and made his debut for the first team in 1997.
However, he was unable to secure a regular place in Alex Ferguson's side and left Manchester to continue his playing career at Carrow Road.
