Gorleston missed a chance to go back to the top of the Premier Division after they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Newmarket.

Along the coast Kirkley & Pakefield slumped to a 2-0 home defeat by Ely City, but Diss Town are edging up the table after a 2-1 win away to Woodbridge Town.

Gorleston created enough chances in the first half to have won the game, but it was 1-1 at the break, the Greens having gone ahead on 24 minutes when Joe Bell netted his first for the club after Nathan Stone's shot was parried.

Just after the hour mark Newmarket went ahead, but within two minutes it was all square again, when Stone's shot was saved by the keeper's legs only for the ball to fall for Finch.

Gorleston – who remains second behind Norwich United, who weren't in action – made it to eight games unbeaten but know they will have to up their game at Spalding United in the FA Cup next week.

Neighbours Great Yarmouth Town hit eight without reply past AFC Sudbury Reserves in Division One – Mitch Forbes (4), Leighton Crux, Scott Woodcock, Andy Agar and an opponent getting the goals.

Fakenham beat visiting Needham Market Reserves 2-1 and unbeaten Swaffham thumped Team Bury 4-1, with goals from Rory Harper, Alex Vincent, Joe Jackson and Toby Hilliard. March lost 4-0 at Whitton.

In the FA Vase first qualifying round, Downham are out, after a 6-0 trouncing at Boston Town but Norwich United march on after a 4-1 win at Haverhill.
