Lowestoft Town joint boss Ady Gallagher admitted the club's injury crisis is looking 'bleak' ahead of their Ryman League Premier clash against Wealdstone at Crown Meadow this evening, a 7.45pm kick-off.

Andrew Fisk (ankle) and Curtis Haynes-Brown are the latest players to be crocked following the 2-2 draw at Thamesmead when the Trawlerboys only had 11 senior players to choose from.

With Adam Smith (hamstring), Dan Gleeson (hamstring) and Erkan Okay (bruised foot) still unavailable, the management team will turn to its pool of youngsters against one of the division's high-fliers.

Gallagher conceded the situation is far from ideal and is struggling to remember a time when the club's playing squad was so stretched during his time at the Meadow.

'I don't think it's ever been quite this bad and it is a bit bleak at the moment,' said Gallagher, who revealed Fisk had nine stitches in his ankle following an awful tackle at the weekend.

'It's been well documented that we are carrying a small squad and unfortunately we have suffered with injuries. We are working extremely hard to try and alter things if we can but it's a very tough time at the moment.'

Gallagher is hoping the club's youngsters can grasp the opportunity available to them.

'At the end of the day it's a good experience for the young players and it's up to them to grab their chance,' he added.

'In an ideal world we wouldn't want to be throwing them in yet but they are good players with a bright future ahead of them.'
