The highly-rated centre-back put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract with the Canaries for an undisclosed fee, with the terms of the deal seeing him initially loaned back to Darren Ferguson’s side until February 28.

After being released by Ipswich as a 16-year-old, Bennett began his career at Grimsby Town where he made over 100 appearances and became their youngest ever captain at the age of 17 in April 2007.

The 6ft, 1in Orsett-born defender’s fine displays earned him a move to Peterborough in January 2010, after an initial three month loan spell proved successful.

He made his City debut at Craven Cottage in the Canaries 2-1 defeat to Fulham on March 31, 2012 and featured a further seven times before the end of the season.
